I normally use generic toner in my laser printers but when I tried generic ink in this, I almost ruined the machine! The generic ink clogged my print heads. I have to run the clean procedure 50+ times to cycle all the bad ink out and get it working again. I see other people saying it is ok, and I am all about saving $$$ but my experience with generic ink was really bad. Perhaps there are brands out there that work ok but you are taking a risk. As for the printer, I LOVE IT. It does have one issue, if you print signs that you intend to heat laminate, you are not going to be happy. The laminating process re-melts the ink and causes the printout to blur.
