I have two computer labs in a University environment, they get a LOT of traffic. We also use AutoCAD and other Autodesk products quite a bit (we're a training center too). I bought a bunch of these mice when they first came out to upgrade our computers at the time, several years ago. We've gone thru several computer upgrades (Dells), but the mice stayed, I gave away all the crappy Dell mice to my students. I'm now finally starting to have a few of these mice wear out, what's happening is the pads on the bottom are falling off, and I can't keep them clean any more. I'm sure they're full of germs, so I'm gonna get new ones, I was really glad to find them still available.
We tried a batch of the fancier MS "Comfort" or "Explorer" mice at one point, but discovered they were awful in AutoCAD, the middle-wheel action was just terrible and that's a very important function, so out they came and these older mice went in. This is an "open" computer cluster, so cordless mice and keyboards would disappear, I need corded ones.
Hope that these never get discontinued, I'm gonna buy a bunch more now to keep them in inventory.
